Mission, Vision, Values and Goals
Our Vision
We envision a Colusa County where every student has access to a safe, supportive, and responsive school environment that promotes mental wellness, strengthens resilience, and enables students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Our Mission
Our mission is to build sustainable, trauma-informed, equitable, and data-driven school mental health systems across Colusa County that promote student well-being, provide early and effective support through a multi-tiered system of supports, and strengthen district capacity.
Our Values
STUDENT-CENTERED EQUITY
We place students and families at the heart of our work, honor their strengths and voices, and promote equitable access to culturally responsive mental health and wellness supports.
TRAUMA-INFORMED PREVENTION
We promote safety, trust, empowerment, early identification, and proactive intervention while recognizing the impact of trauma on learning, behavior, relationships, and well-being.
COLLABORATION AND PARTNERSHIP
We build strong, coordinated partnerships among students, families, schools, districts, community providers, and county agencies to strengthen systems of support.
DATA-INFORMED CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
We use meaningful data, evidence-based practices, reflection, innovation, and ongoing evaluation to guide decisions and improve outcomes.
INTEGRITY AND SUSTAINABILITY
We uphold ethical practice, confidentiality, transparency, and accountability while building the knowledge, resources, and systems needed to sustain effective mental health services over time.
Colusa County schools have mental health services available to all students and their families. If you or your child need support, please contact your child's school. Special thanks to the staff at Colusa Unified School District, Maxwell Unified School District, Pierce Joint Unified School District, & Williams Unified School District for collaborating with us on this project.
Department Goals
-
Increase access to culturally responsive school-based mental health and wellness services across Colusa County by addressing barriers and engaging students and families in planning supports that reflect their strengths and needs. -
Partner with districts to develop clear referral pathways and coordinated supports within a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS), helping students receive timely services at the level that best meets their needs. -
Provide training, consultation, coaching, and clinical supervision that strengthen staff skills in trauma-informed practices, mental wellness, and responding effectively to student needs. -
Strengthen partnerships among students, families, schools, districts, and community providers through clear communication, shared procedures, and supported transitions between services while protecting confidentiality. -
Establish consistent documentation, service delivery, and evaluation practices; use student and family feedback and meaningful outcome data to improve services; and develop the staffing, resources, and funding needed to sustain effective supports.
