The County Superintendent of Schools, an elected official, is tasked with the administration of the County Office of Education, acting as a pivotal intermediary between the California Department of Education and the local school districts within the County. This structure is underscored by constitutional law, ensuring a judicious utilization of taxpayer funds for the educational realm.

In adherence to the law, every child within California is guaranteed access to a quality education. The provision of K-12 education, in alignment with the regulations and statutes established by the California legislature and the California Department of Education, is the responsibility of the local school districts.

The County Office of Education is wholeheartedly dedicated to supporting local school districts by offering both direct and indirect services. The spectrum of services provided encompasses fiscal management, curriculum coordination, special schools and programs, health services, and the orchestration of state and federal projects.

In the role of a facilitator, the County Superintendent fosters collaborative ventures among various governmental and service agencies. There is a concerted effort to coordinate resources with neighboring counties to enhance the breadth of services available.

In liaison with federal and state legislators, the Superintendent strives to secure maximal funding, thereby channeling additional service dollars towards enriching the educational experience of children in Colusa County.

Serving as the executive officer and ex-officio secretary to the Board of Education, the County Superintendent of Schools diligently administers all policies as stipulated by the County Board of Education, ensuring a cohesive and effective educational framework within the County.
